One day on a lark we bought two Saanen does in the Spring of 2006 and were so impressed with the incredible amount of milk production from these first fresheners, we expanded our herd of Saanens over the last several years. Pictured to the right is Genny at her first freshening.

Below are some of our Saanen does and a little story about each of them.

Kidsland Penny's Ice Crystal

Crystal is one of the largest does on the ranch. She has great udder attachment and is usually left to raise her kids since she can be a real pain on the milkstand. Crystal has given us many outstanding kids and most of her doelings have been retained and her bucklings have gone on to other herds as herd sires.

B's G&B Nubians Genoveva

Genny was one of the best Saanen does that we ever had on the ranch. This doe has a nearly perfect udder. Unfortunately, we lost Genny shortly after her first freshening to gangrenous mastitis. Genny had a single buck kid that is now one of our pet wethers and will be a future harness goat.

SG Dzimianski's Daydream

"Daydreamer" has an outstanding pedigree and milked out very well at her first and second freshening. Unfortunately, Daydreamer developed an udder infection from a puncture wound and she can no longer be milked because her teat canals are full of scar tissue.

Frog-Creek B.K. Feathers

Feather's is one of those does that just keeps milking and milking and takes forever to dry up. Feather had a exceptional doeling out of our Willow-Run buck and we look forward to see if she milks as long as her mother.

CP Ranch Diamond Jubilee

Julie is Crystal's doeling from her fall of 2006 freshening. Little Julie is the only Saanen doeling born in 2006 and she is retained to be a future milker. This doeling is very feminine and already jumps up on the milk stand with her mother to share her grain.

Kandi-Kane GTB Christmas Bell

Bell is a new addition from the Kandi-Kane herd and this herd is known for their excellent Saanen milking goats. We look forward to having Bell on the milk stand in the next year or so.

Kandi-kane Coconut Cream

Coconut is another new addition from the Kandi-Kane herd. This young doe is one of those goats that is always in your pocket (probably because we usually have cookies in our pockets). This silly little girl was bred this last fall to Cupid.

Kandi-Kane SCFCG Betty

Betty is also from the Kandi-Kane herd and is very large for her age. Out of all our goats, this doe has the craziest fur coat that sticks up in all directions because she has so many cowlicks.

CP Ranch Snow Angel

Angel is a stout doe with a wide backend which is the typical conformation that her sire, Leif, throws on all his kids. Angel's dam is a mini-Alpine (CP Ranch Little Darling), so Angel will probably be a small to medium sized doe when she is full grown.

Kandi-Kane DS Sugar Cookie

Cookie is a long-legged doeling with a sweet personality. This doeling is an experimental with a mixture that is mostly Saanen with a touch of Nubian and Togg.

Kandi-Kane Vanilla Kreme

We bought Vanilla as a companion for Rider (pictured below left) after Rider's twin sister passed away shortly after birth. Vanilla has turned out to be a nice addition to our Saanen herd with her beautiful conformation and goofy personality.

CP Ranch Pale Rider

Rider was the little doeling that almost didn't survive after birth. Her dam had severe pregnancy toxemia and Hypocalciumia and Rider and her twin sister were born early via c-section. Rider's twin sister passed away shortly after birth.

CP Ranch Solar Eclipse

Solar is one of Cupid's first kids. This doeling is very elegant that has an outstanding pedigree on her sire's and dam's side. This little girl would be perfect for the show ring. Her twin brother was sold to another herd as their future herd sire.

Stumphollo Scilly

Scilly is a rare British Golden Guernsey and the start of our future British Guernsey herd. In early 2009 we will have another bred British Guernsey doe arriving and we look forward to adding her to our herd.

CP Ranch Kassiopeia (Grettle)

Although this doeling looks a lot like a Golden Guernsey, she is actually a cross between a Nubian buck and a Saanen doe (she got her hairy thighs from her dam). We decided to keep Grettle because her dam is an excellent milk goat and we love Grettle's unusual golden looks.
