QUADS!!!
Charity surprised us this winter by giving birth to quads.
Charity is such a large, deep bodied goat that we had no
idea she was packing all these kids. There are three bucklings
and one tiny doeling. We have 2 roan boys, 1 black, and
the little girl is brown. The little doeling will be retained
the bucklings have been sold as pets.
|
|
|
This big girl was the last kid born of the
winter season. Her mother is a Spanish cross and her sire is an
Alpine. Holly was never a little kid, she was so big when she
was born that she looked like she was already a month old. Holly
was retained only because she is such a cry-baby when she is separted
from her mother, people keep bringing her back.
|
|
|
|
Although Ebony can no longer stand from severe
Laminitis, she gave birth to these tiny little does. We are not
sure how he did it, but our buck escaped and bred Ebony without
our knowledge. Although we give the kids a couple of bottles a
day, they can still nurse on mama while she is laying down. We
are keeping the white eared doeling to keep Ebony company and
the black doeling has already been sold.
|
|
Just when we were crossing our fingers and
hoping for a doeling, Venus had triplet bucks. Gee, thanks Venus.
The buckling on the left is named Curly Joe because he was born
with liitle curly locks all over. The buck on the right is named
Brutus and is retained to be our future herd sire...Look for him
at the next Florida Rutfest show. The last buckling (not pictured)
is named Happy because he just wags his tail all the time. All
kids have been sold.
|
|
Tally Ho and Giddy Up are Susie-Qs twin doelings. Big, healthy
girls with terrific conformation, we retained the black and white
doeling (Tally Ho) and she will start her show career soon. In
the photo of Tally Ho above, she is stealing milk from one of
the does on the milk stand. These two doeling both have an unusual
marking, if you notice in the photos that they both have a large
patch of white, with a perfect little circle in the center. Giddy
Up, on the right, has already been sold.
|
|
Jelly Bean, out of our black Nubian doe,
Java Beans is a pretty doe and is solid black. Java gave birth
to two kids, but her second kid was still born and partially developed.
Jelly Bean is retained.

This set of twins is Brandy's buckling and doeling born
11/10/2006. We named them Whisky Sour and Mint Julipe. The buck
sold within a week of birth and
Julipe was retained. Mint Julipe has very nice conformation
and will be shown later in the 2007 season.

|
These little girls were a definite surprise
when they were born. These are Oreo's twin doelings out of our
Saanen buck, Leif. We didn't plan on breeding Oreo, but the buck
waited to escape while we were away and we didn't know he bred
Oreo until the day of the delivery. These pretty little Nubian/Saanen
cross doelings are named Peaches & Cream, and Apricot, but
we call them the little Jack Rabbits because of their long, upright
ears. Both were later sold as yearlings.

|
This is the last kid born of the 2006 Spring/Summer season.
Maxwell is a solid white mini-Alpine buckling. Full of bounce,
this little guy is an expert escape artist. Maxwell would make
a nice little herd sire for someone breeding miniature dairy
goats. Maxwell's mother, pictured in background, is a large
sized Pygmy goat and his sire is our big Alpine buck, New-Life-Acres
Yuletide. Maxwell is Sold

Big, healthy doeling, born 06/25/06,
this is the best doe kid of the season. Named Sally's Legacy after
her dam, Auld Sally. This will probably be Sally's last kid because
of her advanced age. We kept praying that Sally would finally give
us an exceptional doeling, and sure enough, Sally delivered this
nice big girl. Legacy will be retained and join the milking herd
in a few year. |
For a doe that has thrown nothing but singles and bucklings
in past freshenings, Satin has blessed us with triplets. We
have 2 bucklings and finally a doe. Satin is an unregistered
Mini-Nubian and the sire is Whiteacre's Jericho's Song. All
three kids are
for sale.Pictured are Satin's bucklings taking a nap
in mama's food bowl.
ALL SOLD

Born 02/26/06, these are two beautiful
twins out of Oak Hill Farms Black Bonny and Whiteacre's Jericho's
Song. One buckling and one doeling, we will retain the doeling for
the milking herd, but the buck is up for sale
now as a bottle baby. Both Sold |
The last kids of the Winter 2005/2006 season. An adorable
pair of Kinder kids (Mini-Nubians). This is the first time the
dam, Snowbird, ever produced doelings and she did a great job
of having twin does. These Kinders were already sold before
they were even born. To purchase Kinders or even Mini-Alpines,
the waiting list is up to a year in advance.
SOLD

Little Darlings first kids and Phlox's first
grandkids. Born 03/28/06, a little doe and a buckling. Little
Darling is a mini-Alpine and the sire is a Nubian. These are adorable
kids and the brown buckling has already been sold, but the blue
roan doeling is for sale for $75
Both Sold

New Years babies! A little buck and doe out
of Java Beans, a recorded grade Nubian doe and Phlox, our registered
Alpine buck. Java had her kids a day early and now we know why...
she was bred to a Nubian buck and was due January 2nd, however,
the sneaky Alpine must have jumped the fence and bred her a day
before we turned her in with the Nubian buck. What a shock to
be expecting Nubian kids and they come out looking just like our
Alpine buck. The buckling and doeling are both
SOLD

|
|
|
A pretty little doeling out of Brandy
and Whiteacre's Jericho's Song. This little doeling is red with
white ears, nose, and top knot. This doeling will be registered
as CP Ranch Straight Flush. We sold this doeling,
along with her mother, to another farm. |
|
Spots everywhere. What a nice surprise to
see all these spots. Two Nubian cross kids, one buck and one doeling.
These two are mostly black, with dark brown, tan, and white patches.
These kids are out of J&J-MCD's Galahad's Shadow, and although
he is all black, he has been throwing kids with spots. Although
their dam had severe mastitis and had to have her udder amputated,
she still cleans them up and snuggles up with them at night and
doesn't even mind the humans coming in and bottle feeding them
three times a day. Lily is the best mom ever. Buck is SOLD

|
Mini-Nubians! These two lovely doelings are
out of our Pygmy doe, Mikey, and our Nubian buck, Whiteacre's
Jericho's Song. Mikey had triplets but one was still born after
a difficult birth and if it was not for an emergency trip to Lake
Wales Veterinarian Hospital, we would have lost the mother and
all the kids. Our most heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ryland for saving
Mikey and these two doelings. These two darling doelings went
to a new home as a very special Christmas gift.
SOLD
|
|
These shy little rascals are Oreo's buckling
and doeling out of our Alpine buck, New Life Acres Yuletide. They
have traditional Alpine coloring and were sold around Christmas
and made a family very happy to have new pet goats. SOLD
|
|
|
|
Venus is a grade Alpine doe and one our best
milkers. This freshening Venus surprised us with Triplets, two
bucks and one doeling. We retained the doe and let Venus nurse
her since she always has plenty of milk to spare, but we pulled
the boys and bottle fed them and they have already been sold.
SOLD

This is Patty Cake's Buckling. He was a purebred Nubian
out of J&J-MCD's Galahad's Shadow. We were very surprised
by all the spots. Unfortunately, this buckling was born almost
3 weeks early and despite extensive medical treatment, he was
just too immature to survive.
|

This is one of Ebony's Twins. Both were born with weak-kid
syndrome and did not survive. We are very sad by the loss of
these two doelings and have sent one of them in for Necropsy
to determine the exact cause of death. We had excellent advice
from goat experts, but still we lost these kids. (Necropsy results
revealed that only 30% of the lungs were developed)

the page to see our 2002 and 2003 kids.

Prancer and Dancer are our first Purebred Alpine kids out of
our Alpine doe, Venus and our buck, Phlox. They were born via
c-section two weeks early when their mother had severe Pregnancy
Toxemia. It took three days before these kids could stand and
had no suck reflex. Both are doing well now and we will keep the
doeling for our milking herd and the buckling is now up for
sale as a herd sire or a wethered pet.
Sold

|
When Daisy
came up pregnant, we had no idea which buck escaped and bred her
until this large doeling with Boar markings was born. This is
Bebop's only kid born before we had him wethered. Shasta is a
husky doeling and has made our neighbors a wonderful pet.
Sold
|
Jilly and Billy are Mikey's twins and the last of Simon's kid's.
These rambunctious kids have their mother's, getting into everything,
personality and have been sold as
pets.
|
Pogo is
Snow's third kid and our Alpine buck, Phlox's, first kid. Pogo
has a funny personality and is already pre-sold to a little girl
as a pet. Pogo is one that I will really miss when he goes to
his new home at weaning. Sold
|
Cupcake
is Oreo's first kid and resulted from Oreo finding her way into
Phlox's pen. Cupcake is a tiny little doe with unusual markings.
This sweet doeling is for sale
at weaning. Sold
|

Sassafras and Trooper are Lily's twins. This buck and doe were
born 02-25-05 and are half Spanish and half Alpine. Both look
white in this photo but they actually have light gray (Alpine-like)
markings on their hind quarters. Both are Sold
|
Eric and Leif, born 02-25-05 are both purebred Saanen bucklings.
These are out of our Saanen doe, Heidi. Eric has horn buds but
Leif is naturally polled. These boys should mature to be very
large, their dam weighs 175 LB and their sire weighs nearly 250
lb. Eric, the cream colored buckling is Sold
and Leif has been retained as a herd sire
for our small number of Saanens.
|

mothers are twins and look almost identical. Heather is colored
like her sire. For sale at
weaning for $75 (this doelings dam is also up for sale and will
sell as a package). SOLD

More triplets born 03/14/05, out of our Nigerian doe, Daisy
May. An adorable trio, these little tikes are Alpine/Nigerian
Dwarf cross. We have two girls and a boy and were named Squirt,
Trinket, and Sunny May by their new owner.. The little girls
are colored like their papa and the buckling is black and white
and very striking. These kids are
for sale for $50 each. Update:
Daisy, the dam passed away five days after the birth of her
triplets due to complications resulting from a fourth kid she
retained. All Sold. A
big thank you for the photo from triplets new mom, Melody

Single large buckling, named Gulliver, born 03/19/05. Alpine/Nubian
cross, out of our Nubian doe, Old Sally, this buckling is enormous
and we thought for sure old Sally would have at least twins
as large as she was, but alas she just had one big boy. Sally
has one of the largest udders we've ever seen on a doe, so this
buckling would make a nice herd sire.
For sale for $100 SOLD
|
Twins born 03/19/05, doeling and buckling out of our black
Nubian doe, Java. Alpine/Nubian cross, these twins are white and
cream out of a solid black doe, we named the kids Striker and
Lacy. Both very adorable with long, floppy ears. Lacy
is quite definitely the cream of the crop this year, she has a
very wide stance, soft cream color and all around great dairy
features, she is for sale
for $150 and her stocky brother is $60 and would make an excellent
breeding buck. Sold
|
Twins born 03/21/05, two doelings, named Bambi and Thumper,
out of Alpine/Nubian cross doe, Sweetpea. These kid are 3/4 Alpine
and 1/4 Nubian. One doeling is fawn and the other sable. The grandmother
of these doelings is the best milk goat on the ranch. We will
retain the fawn doeling and the other is up for
sale as a bottle baby or weaned for $100 SOLD
|

Twins born 03/21/05, one buckling and one doeling, named Anthony
and Cleopatra, out of our Reg. Nubian doe, Charity. These kids

Finally, the last kid of the season, born
04/11/05. Leave it to Satin to throw an interesting color, this
little buckling (nicknamed "Chubby Butt"), is streaked
with black and white. "Chubby Butt" is half Alpine and
should mature to be about medium size. Unfortunately, Chubby was
born with an undershot jaw and will be wethered and sold as a
pet only. SOLD

|
This
is Toby, our first baby goat. This tiny tot is half Pygmy and
Spanish and was Snow's first kid. Toby was born via c-section
and had a rough start in life. Toby is Pam's pampered pet and
lived in the house the first three months of his life. Toby is
grown now and still runs around the ranch causing trouble and
even sneaks back into the house once in a while.
|
 |
Simon was
a half Spanish and half Nubian buckling. We bought Simon as a
companion for Toby and he eventually fathered many kids on the
ranch. However, Simon eventually became too aggressive with his
large set of horns and we had to find him another home.
|
Satin is Hugh's little sweetheart. Also raised inside (before
we realized that goats could actually live outside), she became
a companion to a little ram lamb. Satin is now grown with a kid
of her own that looks exactly like her.
|
Sweetpea
lives up to her name with her sweet disposition. Pea is still
at the ranch with her mama, Venus, and we look forward to her
having her own kids one day. We hope Pea will be a star milker
just like her mama.
|
These are Snow's twin bucklings and our first set of twins
on the ranch. We found these two boys great homes when they were
weaned and left it up to the new owners to name them.
|

Bebop
is Buttercup's buckling and is half Boar. When we bought his
mama, we didn't know what she was bred to, however, when I had
to put my feet on either side of Buttercups rump to pull this
big buck out during his birth and saw his head, I knew mama
was bred to a Boar. In this picture Bebop just had his horn
buds scooped out and was feeling pretty bad.
|
Oreo and Lilac are Lily's (peaking around corner) first kids.
These two little does had to be bottle fed when their mama developed
severe mastitis. Both Oreo and Lilac are very sweet does and inherited
their mother's silly personality. Both doelings still live at
the ranch and are big pets.
|
This is Satin's first kid, Midnight Star. Midnight is all black
with a little white star on his forehead. Midnight has his mother's
calm disposition and seeks out humans for attention. This boy
is now a wether and has a permanent home at Crooked Pine Ranch
as a pet.
|
Briar and Bramble are Sally's twin doelings. Both are nearly identical
with the exception of Briar being naturally polled and Bramble
having horn buds and wattles. Although these two darlings are
not full Nubian, we do hope they will inherit their mother's nice
udder and make a nice addition to our milking herd.
