Crooked Pine Ranch started out as a breeding facility for show ponies. In the past we gave riding lessons on our lovely little ponies, however, as the years went by and our dairy grew and with the arrival of our own little girl we retired the lesson ponies and shut down the show pony breeding barn. Some of the lesson ponies went to new homes and others are still retired on our ranch. We still have Ginger and she is now in her late twenties and can still kick up her hooves once in awhile. Below are some of our personal riding horses and ponies.

Make It Easy Plaudit (Robin) is a solid colored registered Appaloosa gelding and Hugh's trail horse. Robin is a little on the slow side, so Hugh doesn't go down the trail very fast (which is fine with Hugh). Robin originally got his barn name as a colt because he would occasionally "fly over his 4" pasture fence".

Snow Ball, a solid white Appaloosa gelding, is Pam's horse and is the brat of the barn yard. He is always trying to stir up trouble and is costing us a small fortune in water tubs. Snow ball is a funny little horse and keeps us amused with his antics.

Midge is a Welsh type pony and is what we call our "front yard ornament". She foundered years ago as a result of eating a poisonous plant. With the efforts of our farrier, Midge has made a lot of improvements in her recovery and our farrier is confident that she will be able to be used for light riding in the future.

Ginger is an elderly Shetland pony, now in her late 20's, and used to be one of our lesson ponies. She is a rare, silver dapple color and her foals would always inherit her beautiful coloring. Ginger is nearly blind, but still gets around well and can occasionally kick up her heel when she's in one of her "moods".

Admiral is an elegant harness pony with a sweet puppy-dog personality. This lovely Hackney Pony stallion stands at 11.1 hands and is a non-fading black. As of 2011, Admiral is about 22 yrs old and runs around the pasture like a young colt.
